We humans don’t want to talk about our weaknesses, because we are afraid of people judging us or thinking we are not strong. We carry the pain and turmoil inside of us until it can’t be held anymore. We are never ashamed to talk about our physical illness, like when was the last time you felt embarrassed to talk about your headache? Why are we not even thinking about Mental Health? Mental Health is way more important than your physical health, because if the software is corrupt or malfunctioning, then the hardware is sure to malfunction. Mental Health is the software that drives this hardware Physical Health. Let’s break the stigma around Mental Health. So, why do people feel ashamed or feel like don’t need to talk about Mental Health? First, people think having a mental health issue is a weakness, or think it is not a matter worth attention. But little do you know, that accepting you feel a certain way and it is bothering you and seeking help to solve the issue is one the most strongest and mature things you can do. Acting like everything is fine and you don’t have any issues outside while having to fight battles inside and be in pain is the worst thing that anyone has ever experienced. Unfortunately, almost everyone on this planet goes through some kind of pain and only a fraction of the population feels free or comfortable to talk about. People most of the time don’t ever judge you, because they understand and know what it feels like to walk in your shoes. The people who judge you are the kind of people who have unresolved issues and are afraid to ask for help. So don’t ever feel ashamed to ask for help if you’re struggling, it’s okay everyone has battles to fight. Asking for help is like having an army behind you saying “Come on, Let’s fight together”. One of my favorite quotes says ” Seeking help is a sign of Maturity” by Dr. Jemima Wesley. We can break the stigma, around mental health where asking for help is considered a weakness, when in reality it is a strength. Have you ever had a moment, when you desperately needed someone to help you, listen to you, and help you sort the mess out, but you never asked for help because you were afraid they would judge you? Remember, the strongest people are those who let their guard down and aren’t afraid to be vulnerable, asking for help when needed.
