How do Healthy Relationships promote Mental Wellbeing

Relationships surround us and form the crux of meaning in each of our lives, it is seen in all walks of our lives which include the relation we have with ourselves, followed by familial and social relations.

Relation with Oneself

We spend most of our time deep in our thoughts in reality, conversing, imagining, and making decisions on matters of life that begin right When we wake up each morning until the time we close our eyes to sleep. We must treat this relationship with the utmost care and take time off to give ourselves self-care by doing things that make us feel more energized. Many live in denial of this concept and hardly take time off to build this personal relationship, this can wreak havoc on both our personal and social life. We can start by being more conscious of our surroundings and the thoughts that come to our minds and ensure we cultivate a positive thinking attitude, which can over the years build resilience and a healthy mind. 

Familial Relationship

This relationship is the foundation of our social relationship as we learn to love from here, it stems from our most cherished memories of being loved by our mother, and father and cared for by our family, especially in times of need. Our sibling relations and distant relations also contribute to our memories in their unique ways, these memories help us form secure attachments later in life. The feeling of being loved without any expectations or giving back in return is the kind of relationship that builds a loving and caring individual.

Social Relationship

Good relationships at work and other social situations require respect and support from either side. These relationships form in an environment where speaking your mind is nurtured and where there are active listeners, who showcase genuine care and loyalty. To build healthy social ties, we need to start with setting healthy boundaries for ourselves, taking the much-needed time for self-care even with the pressures of work, and finding a relationship to confide in by being able to share our joys and woes without being judged is essential.

To conclude, Relationships are always formed with a stronger empathetic self, these relationships are long-lasting and can lead the way to finding the same genuineness in others as well.
